But, number two, we also need to keep our minds in check, and having helped our sight already we are on a good start with this. And I am not talking about a gradual check, or a from time-to-time check, but I mean we need to keep close watch on our thoughts and make sure they are aligned with God's Truth. We should not freely entertain thoughts about other women that would be considered fornication or adultery. The Apostle Paul told us in Romans, “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace” (Romans 6:12-14, ESV). Our minds our one of our many members of our bodies. If we think wrong things in our minds, we will eventually become slaves to our wrong thoughts. Now, God looks at the heart of a person. The Christian life is not just about following a preset list of rules. Rather, we have to follow God with whole hearts, or wholeheartedly. We should not just let are minds run around to whatever lustful thoughts they want to think about. We have to keep our minds in check as men. Sure, it's difficult. God never said it wouldn't be hard. But he also promises us that he will help us with things like this.
