We note from this text that God gave “every green plant for food.” So, humans were originally created as vegetarians. Now, some of you who are vegetarians today will surely like this. Being a vegetarian is a healthy way to live. But, remember, nowadays God gives us, as humans, all animals to eat. It’s okay to eat them. We read the following in Acts chapter 11 the following from the Apostle Peter. In this text, he is talking about a vision he had just had: “Looking at it closely, I observed animals and beasts of prey and reptiles and birds of the air. And I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’ But I said, ‘By no means, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’ But the voice answered a second time from heaven, ‘What God has made clean, do not call common’ (Acts 11:6-9, ESV). So, God makes it clear that it’s good to eat meat from animals. God provides us meat and it should be accepted with thanksgiving.
