The sixth Trumpet Judgment: “Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, were released to kill a third of mankind. The number of mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand; I heard their number” (13-16, ESV). Here, at the sixth Trumpet Judgment, we see that when the angel blows his trumpet, a voice comes from the four hours of the golden alter, which is before God’s throne. Note, this is probably either the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ, who had been standing near the throne earlier, or this could be the voice of the angel who was at the alter of incense (see Revelation 5:6, 8:3). Anyway, the point is that four angels are going to be released who have been bound for a time at the great river Euphrates.
